Studio Boom is located in the Nieuwmarkt neighbourhood, a bustling area between the Central Station and the Rembrandt square. From the apartment the Nieuwmarkt is right around the corner and is well known for its countless cafés, restaurants and for 'de Waag': the 17th century city gate which currently houses a restaurant.
Within a radius of about a five to ten minute walk you can find the Rembrandt house, the Waterloo square, comedy theatre the Kleine Komedie, the theatres of the Nes, the Jewish Historical museum, Amsterdam's Chinatown and the characteristic (food)shops of the Zeedijk. The Kalverstraat (the main shopping street) and the Dam with its palace, the Bijenkorf and Madame Tussaud is only a ten minute walk away.
And if you really want to feel like a local, there is a bicycle rental place close by. Ten minutes by bike will take you to the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk museum and the van Gogh museum. After that you can go shopping in the nine streets or you can cycle to the Concertgebouw in the evening.
If you've had enough of the bustle of the city, you can take a short walk for a cup of coffee on the Oosterdok island where you can admire the modern architecture or just gaze out over the IJ river and the center of the city. Or if you take the free ferry over the IJ behind the Central Station, you can sip your drink with a beautiful view of the water in the EYE Museum, the new Amsterdam film museum.
